The following is a detailed work history for Teddie-Joy Remhild from 1987-2016.

May 1987: BSG in Gerontology, USC

February 1989 - 1994: Los Angeles City Department of Recreation and Parks.

February 1989 - 1990: Worked as part-time Recreation Assistant
• Organized classes for pre-school, team sports, special events, i.e. Halloween Carnival, Health Fairs and and ongoing Senior Citizen social group. The Eagle Rock Seniors met weekly at the Eagle Rock Park Recreation Center with programs, speakers and special events.
• L.A. City Council bestowed the award of Community Recognition certificate.

1990 - 1994: Full Time Recreation Director

1991: Transferred to Senior Citizen Section offices of L.A. Dept of Rec. & Parks. The events planned by the Senior Citizen Section were city wide, i.e. annual 90+ Birthday Celebration Luncheon with special guests, entertainment and prizes; Senior Citizen Juried Art Exhibit with a run in City Hall of several weeks with awards, reception and dignitaries.

December 1994 - January 1996: Braille Institute. I worked part time as an Independent Living Skills Trainer for newly blind older adults. Classes were held in 3 senior citizen centers - Pasadena, Burbank and Reseda. Instruction included organizing closets, cooking, resources, visual aids, sewing, travel tips etc.

April 1997 - March 1999: Dayle MacIntosh Center for the Disabled, Orange County, Client Assistance Program Advocate.
• Represented clients with the State Department of Rehabilitation who had unresolved issues, grievances or personnel difficulties.
• Acted as a mediator between the client and staff from the Department of Rehabilitation.
• Assisted clients in obtaining equipment necessary in order to meet career or educational goals.
• Facilitated changing the client’s career goals

April 1999 - March, 2000: National Association of Protection & Advocacy Systems, Washington, D.C., Client Assistance Program Trainer (This job was funded by a grant from Rehabilitation Services Administration and its primary mission was to train CAP)
• Advocated around the country on the latest regulations, strategies and skills needed to enhance the opportunities for clients of Departments of Rehabilitation, persons with disabilities seeking training, education and job opportunities.

March 2000 - 2009: Personal Assistance Services Council - Program Administrator, Community and Consumer Programs. Originally, in the year 2000, my job title was coordinator of community Outreach. In these evolving roles, I have:
• Created programs for IHSS consumers for purposes of education, self advocacy and benefits enhancement including In Home Supportive Services Consumer Trainings, Disability Awareness Trainings, 250% Medical Working Disabled Program Trainings,
• Conducted community presentations on the role of the public authority, the history of the Independent Living Movement, Disability Rights, Olmstead Supreme Court Decision of 1999, Americans for Disability Rights of 1990, Section 504 of the Rehab. Act of 1973
• Created a network of community relationships including Independent Living Centers, Regional Centers, Department of Mental Health, L.A. County Commission on Disabilities, L.A. City Commission on Disability, Employment Development Department, L.A. County Community Senior Services , L.A. County Department of Public Social Services, State Department of Rehabilitation, Ability First, Protection & Advocacy, Bet Tzedek Legal Services, Aids Project L.A., Center for the Partially Sighted, Adult Protective Services of L.A. County, El Camino Community College, Southern California Presbyterian Homes

1987: National Scholastic Award, Recordings for the Blind

1988: Vice Chairperson of Burbank Advisory Committee on Disabled

1989: L.A. City Council Community Award of Appreciation for Creation of Community Senior Citizen Program at Eagle Rock Recreation Center

1993: Chairperson, Committee on Senior Blind for California Council of the Blind

1995 - 1999: Member of Board of Directors, California Council of the Blind

1999: American Council of the Blind Affiliate Certification Awarded for Creation of Alliance on Aging and Vision Loss Special Interest Affiliate

2002 - 2005: Appointment to State Steering Committee for the California Health Incentives Improvement Project as chairperson.

2002: Appointment by the L.A. County Commission on Disabilities to Access Services Inc. Board of Directors (Paratransit for L.A. County for PWD).

June 2006: Appointment to State Olmstead Advisory Committee by CHHS Secretary Kimberly Belshe

September 2006: Appointment by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to State Independent Living Council.

2007: Appointment to California Community Choices Advisory Committee by CHHS

2007: Appointment to California Community Transitions Advisory Committee by LTC Division of Health and Human Services
